The first part of the Christian biblical narrative, creation, highlights the nature of God. From this perspective, he is good and loving as he created the earth for people to thrive (Made to Flourish, 2017). In turn, the man is an image of God and should be equally treated with respect (Made to Flourish, 2017). These principles are also applicable to the considerations of sickness and disease as the care for one’s body is synonymous with the care for God. In this case, the comfort in light of illness comes from God controlling everything, and everyone will be looked after. The second part, fall, narrates about God’s care as opposed to the limitations of human beings (Made to Flourish, 2017). In this case, the hope in illness is in removing sins which is the sole responsibility of sick people, and their comfort depends on them.

The third part, redemption, reflects God’s help after the fall. According to it, his nature is not only loving but also caring towards all the people. In this part, it is also stated that the acceptance of God is key to the solution for all problems (Made to Flourish, 2017). Hence, this principle can be applied to illness as well and provide support for patients from the perspective of finding comfort in God’s care. The fourth part, restoration, adds to the previously mentioned ideas by introducing God as the creator who never abandons his people (Made to Flourish, 2017). For the patients, it means the need for believing in him to receive hope for recovery by analogy with the restoration of God’s creation (Made to Flourish, 2017). Thus, the four parts of the Christian biblical narrative describe God’s nature and provide comfort for sick people.
