Hurricane Delta is one of the many geographical happenings in the year 2020. Specifically, a Caribbean Sea system developed on October 5, 2020, and subsequently became a category four hurricane by October 6, 2020, morning. Hurricane Delta commenced at 6:30 am, whereby its strongness was measured to be in the category two hurricane in the Yucatan peninsula. Delta became stronger on October 9 evening, turning to be a major hurricane near Creole, Louisiana. Hurricane Delta is considered the second hurricane to make landfall in the Creole region after hurricane Laura reached twelve miles away in August.
Arguably, the Hurricane Delta topic relates to the ideas in physical geography. First, the place is one of the concepts of natural topography. The Typhoons happened in both the U.S. and Mexico. Second, movement is another physical geography. Understandably, its winds moved at a speed approaching 100 miles per hour (CNN, 2020). The storms were quite high, leaving depressions in different parts along the shores of Lake Charles. Therefore, it is evident that Hurricane Delta critically relates to the concepts of physical geography.
Specifically, the hurricane delta events occurred in the Creole region, Louisiana state, and Yucatan in Mexico. Delta caused colossal destruction to human property in different parts of Louisiana. According to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (2020), the typhoons led to property destruction approximated to be over $1.25 billion within the Creole region. Houses were submerged with the waters, and the storms removed the rooftops, leaving homes open. Moreover, farmers are complaining of the environmental effects that it has brought, including mosquitoes biting and leading to deterioration in animals’ health. Holistically, it is worth noting that Hurricane Delta caused huge stuff destruction.
Besides, Hurricane Delta necessitated great harm to human life. Approximately 266,000 people experienced a blackout in Yucatan during the delta ordeal (CDP, 2020). The blackout menace means that many incidents directly affect human life, including edible foods in fridges. Moreover, three victims died due to Hurricane Delta (CDP, 2020). Two of the individuals were killed by fire caused by electric wires, while the other was swept away by storms. Therefore, Delta caused huge destruction among the affected people’s families.
