In spite of healthcare organizations being aimed at the non-profitable immanent goal of their patients’ wellbeing, the management of their facilities is essential. Management and strategy are usually associated with the financial side of any business so that medical establishments are less expected to embrace the methods of enterprises. Yet, an organizational plan serves the purpose of guiding a firm in delivering the best service and satisfying its customers’ needs. As Buchbinder et al. (2019, p. 136) explain, “by understanding the organization’s operating environment and identifying a strategy to reach a desired future state, resources can be allocated appropriately and effectively.” Hence, one of the critical steps in providing a strategy is developing its mission and vision. For Phoenix Hospital, the mission and vision depend on the company’s services and professionals.

Affordable healthcare today is not a simple initiative of a few educated people living on charity and donations. However, just as before, healthcare enterprises and corporations have a defined mission, vision, and values at their core. A company’s mission is usually understood as values generated from multiple sources: healthcare workforce, consumers and payers, technology innovation, regulatory environment, and competitive rivalry. Further, an essential part of the company’s overall strategic planning is its vision. The vision aims to define the specific future state of the organization, which is usually an inspiring goal for many years to come. Thus, the company’s vision is to develop the mission, give it perspectives, inspire employees, and determine the company’s further interaction with the market and clientele.

For conceiving the most appropriate mission and vision for Phoenix Hospital, it is necessary to examine its background. Namely, one should consider such elements as the organization, stakeholders impacted by the company, its goals, and values. As to the organization, the Hospital is not a governmental or a commercial establishment, which limits its ability to raise funds for the development. The customers’ capacity of the firm consists mainly of the adult population (from 18 to 44 years old). Significantly, only a minor part of these people are well-educated citizens. Then, they may be vulnerable to providing efficient self-care and rely on the company’s medical services greatly. Thence, the stakeholders of the organization are determining the importance of the facility.

Next, there are other components of the company that are essential for its analysis. Namely, Phoenix Hospital’s primary services comprise emergency services and surgeries, but the technological state of the firm does not fully correspond to these needs. There are only two ambulances in the facility. Therefore, one goal might be that of technological advancement. The other goal concentrates on recruiting more skilled staff for certain types of services. The company obtains professional staff already, but sometimes complicated surgeries need to be executed by several such experts. In turn, the values could be derived from the information about the services and organizations’ structure that are mentioned earlier. Namely, they lie in providing an excellent quality of services, professionalism of the workers, and fast delivery. Thus, the company is highly concerned with specialized personnel and quality care.

Phoenix Hospital, like any company, has its mission and vision of progress. This can be judged based on the company’s activities, namely its audience, quality of service, and approach to the financial side of the matter. Phoenix Hospital’s main clients are under-educated adults and people in the lower-middle class. Based on the specifics of the audience, the company aims at a non-profit medical service that is accessible to many people and earns income from only one customer. Thus, Phoenix Hospital loses a mercantile element in its activities, which, it should be noted, in the healthcare sector has more disadvantages than advantages. Indeed, for a healthcare company, its customers and their health are essential, and not the maximum profit for any assistance provided. Thus, Phoenix Hospital provides the highest quality and affordable medical care at a minimum income. Also, due to a particular audience, the staff provides clients with data about their condition and the services provided in the terminology they understand. Summing up, Phoenix Hospital’s mission can be considered caring and helping people despite their wealth, education, and understanding of the processes in the healthcare sector.

The vision of Phoenix Hospital is directed far ahead, and at the same time, it does not break away from the specifics of its clientele. An example is the essential services provided by a hospital, namely emergency medical care and surgery. In the first one, the hospital has only two ambulances, and in the company’s vision, this problem is of the first order. In the future, the hospital intends to expand its fleet of vehicles for the provision of emergency ambulances and personnel for service and assistance in ambulances. Also, the hospital is expanding its staff of qualified employees to improve the company’s overall productivity and affordable assistance to clients. The bottom line is that Phoenix Hospital’s vision and development prospects aim to improve and expand its fundamental values that make the company unique and extremely important to society, to which it directs all its efforts.
