To optimize health satisfaction, it is essential to encourage and improve sustainable, high-quality health care long-term that can be attained with evidence-based practice (EBP). Despite the apparent advantage of EBP, it is still not widely implemented in some countries because of some barriers (Kaseka & Mbakaya, 2022). The obstacles create difficulties in implementing healthcare provider regulations to improve the standard of treatment. These issues include a lack of nursing staff motivation and institutional constraints. These two significant obstacles could prevent the adoption of EPB in my planning of patients’ discharges from taking the anticipated six months to a year.
One of the main obstacles is low enthusiasm among the nurses and other medical staff. Lack of sufficient nursing staff, which increases the strain on the current care teams, is among the variables that could cause poor motivation (McNett et al., 2022). Another reason that would result in a lack of inspiration for the nurses to adopt and actualize the needed improvements is a lack of encouragement to integrate EBP into their research. Offering strong incentives and resolving the core issues are crucial for increasing the nursing staff’s enthusiasm to apply EBP. Additionally, the issue that can prevent healthcare institutions from making the desired change is an organizational culture that is not supportive of the practice. The failure to hold nurses accountable for using the best practices and not offering them tools they need is a common problem of unsupportive organizations.
In summary, evidence-based medicine can be considered a gold-standard method for attaining outstanding results in clinical research and practice. However, some organizational issues still exist, preventing clinicians from fully introducing EBP. My strategies to overcome these challenges are encouraging interprofessional research to lessen the workload given to nurses and promote information transfer, especially to newly hired nurses. Moreover, it is critical to provide nurses with opportunities for professional and educational progress to improve their knowledge of EBP so that they can implement it into practice.
